AMPP’s Annual Conference + Expo 2026 Research Topical Symposia
This Research Topical Symposia (RTS) explores the evolving landscape of carbon capture, transportation, and storage (CCTS) through the lens of materials performance, corrosion control, and sustainability. As global efforts intensify to achieve net-zero emissions and mitigate climate change, CCTS technologies are increasingly critical to large-scale carbon management. Topics of interest include corrosion and degradation mechanisms in CO₂-rich environments (gas, dense phase and supercritical), materials selection and compatibility across CCTS processes, and the effect of impurities such as SOx, NOx, H₂S, and water on corrosion rates and mechanisms. Discussions on predictive modeling, laboratory experimental protocols, field-scale case studies, and real-world data from pilot or commercial CCTS projects are encouraged.
This RTS on CCTS will highlight cutting-edge technologies for capturing CO₂ from point sources and the atmosphere, innovations in safe and efficient CO₂ transport via pipelines and shipping, and advancements in geological storage, including saline aquifers and depleted reservoirs. Discussions will also address regulatory frameworks, risk assessment, monitoring and verification strategies, and the integration of CCTS with hydrogen production and industrial clusters. There will be a strong emphasis on scalability, cost-effectiveness, and environmental integrity.
The goal of this session is to foster collaboration between academia, industry, and government institutions. Presentations may cover research and project development efforts that address materials and corrosion challenges specific to CO₂ capture, compression and transport infrastructure (e.g., pipelines, compressors), and injection wells, including caprock integrity.
This RTS session invites researchers, industry leaders and government stakeholders to explore the challenges and breakthroughs shaping the future of CCTS management.
RTS is an invite-only session. For more information about the 2026 program, please reach out to:
